Rava Coconut Ladoo/ Sooji Laddu (Indian Sweet Made with Semolina and Coconut)

Laddu or laddoo are a round shaped sweets snack from India. You can see different varieties of Laddus in India. Normally ladoo’s are prepared with flours,sugar, aromatic spices etc. Here we are sharing to a simple and tasty Rava Coconut Ladoo/ Sooji Laddu (Indian Sweet Made with Semolina and Coconut) recipe. It is very easy to prepare so that it would be a good recipe for parties and festivals like Deepavali/Diwali, Onam, Vishu, Christmas, Ramzan etc..

Ingredients For Rava Ladoo/ Sooji Laddu

  • Powdered Rava/Semolina/Sooji
  • 2 Cups
  • Grated Coconut
  • 1 ½ Cup
  • Powdered Sugar
  • 1 1/4 Cup(Adjust)
  • Warm milk
  • ¼ Cup
  • Ghee
  •  4 tablespoon
  • Cashew Nuts
  • 10 to 12 Numbers
  • raisins
  • 10 to 12 Numbers
  • Cardamom Powder
  • from 3 cardamom
  • Saffron Strands
  • 2 to 3 Pinch (Optional)



1. Heat 1 tablespoon ghee in a thick bottomed wok or pan. Place Cashew nuts and raisins, roast and fry until golden. Remove and keep aside.

2. Heat remaining ghee in the same pan and add powdered semolina/rava/sooji . Roast and stir in a low flame until light brown in colour.

3. Add coconut and stir next 3 to 4 minutes.

4. Add powder sugar and stir continuously next 3 to 4 minutes.

5. Add warm milk slowly and combine well.

6. When it turns thick and sticky in consistency, turn off the heat and add roasted cashew nuts, raisins.

7. Combine well.

8. Add saffron Strands and cardamom powder, mix well.

9. When the heat is manageable, use your hands and shape it in to medium size balls or your desirable shapes.

10. When it’s cool, enjoy! Do not keep Rava ladoo in room temperature more 1 day because of its coconut content. If you want to keep longer refrigerate it.
